DIY Kitchen Herb Garden
Imagine, it’s the Wednesday before Easter and you realize you don’t have a hostess gift for that special someone, who you know will have work tirelessly on brunch. A kitchen herb garden is the perfect solution! That can be pulled together in a snap. Today I’m sharing a quick DIY that creates a beautiful gift, that produces kitchen staple herbs, for a year or more.
This herb garden features plants and soil from Home Depot. The container used, in the video, was purchased at Target but, is not available online. So, I found a couple of options at Home Depot. This one is more urn style and would be beautiful. This one is a more simplistic style, like the one I used.
I choose sweet basil, rosemary, lemon thyme and Italian oregano for this garden. These are the herbs I reach for the most, in my kitchen.
The steps are quite simple. Fill your container about 3/4 with your soil. One at a time, remove your plants from their pots. Gently disrupt their root system, by spreading them outward. This will encourage the plants roots to grow outward. Be careful to not tangle the roots. Place all of your plants and then add soil to fill the pot almost to the top. You can leave some space at the top and add Spanish moss or sheet moss for a cleaner finished look.
